TIFF unveils first 2019 titles, including ‘Joker’ and ‘Jojo Rabbit’

Joker 2
Warner Bros

Man, we hate late summer. Sure, the weather’s pretty good, if you like hot weather, and if you’re a baseball fan, you’re sure to be in heaven, but Hollywood and the film world at large generally sits out the month of August. The one thing that keeps us going throughout these trying times is the fact that the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is on the horizon, and this year’s first title reveals are… well, awesome.

We’ve got new work from Taika Waititi, Robert Eggers, Bong Joon-Ho, Steven Soderbergh, Armando Iannucci, Noah Baumbach, and more. Movies like Ford v. Ferrari Just Mercy, Dolemite is My Name and Joker will be making premieres. And roughly 50 percent of the slate has been directed by women, so, hooray representation!

Anyways, without further ado, here’s the TIFF line up.
