Watch the new ‘Supergirl’ trailer, ya bastich

Supergirl
WB

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Mayhem” continues with Warner Bros. entering the fray. He-Man might have a Battlecat, but Supergirl has the breakout star of last summer’s moviegoing season in the form of The Dog of Steel, Krypto the Super-Dog. Honestly, we’re torn. We love cats more than anything else, but boy howdy is that dog cute as hell. It all really comes down to who would win in a fight, and we think we’ve got to give it to Krypto. He can fly, first off, and he’s cuter, so QED.

Oh, yeah! There are humans in this movie, too. Craig Gillespie and company cast this one pretty well, though that’s not exactly too hard to do. Milly Alcock looks like a swell Kara Zor-El, and, yeah, we have to admit it: Jason Momoa was born to play Lobo, though we think people being stoked about his appearance here are either old enough to be nostalgic for the days of ’90s comic books or too young to remember when that dude was getting Wolverine-levels of shoehorned into random DC comics.

Yet we know the real reason people are going to see this movie, and we also know the real reason you clicked this link to watch the trailer Warner Bros. dropped earlier on Tuesday. It’s all about Krypto, all the time. Call it puppy love or something.

Take a look:

Here’s a brief synopsis for Supergirl:

“When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.”

Supergirl hits theaters on June 28. All we’re hoping for is a nod thrown in Peter O’Toole’s direction, because that was some “Olivier in Clash of the Titans” slumming on his part in the ’84 version.
