The idea of going out of the house in the middle of a work week might be daunting, but what if Jerrod Carmichael was the reason for the excursion?
Such will be the case when the award-winning comedian, actor, and writer returns to the area for two nights at The Comedy Studio starting on Tuesday (April 28) for a double dose of his intensely thoughtful and introspective stand-up. It’ll mark Carmichael’s second visit to the greater Boston landscape since early 2025, since which he has served as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, while also releasing his latest critically-acclaimed comedy special Don’t Be Gay, which premiered on HBO last spring.
With Carmichael, it’s not just about his comedy. You’re getting jokes and funny anecdotes, of course, but you’re also getting a wildly honest and potent perspective of modern American culture delivered in a myriad of ways that far outstretches traditional comedy, and captures the humor in even the darkest of places. So, maybe the midweek date night, or even the midweek early morning callout, is just what the doctor ordered. Hop to it.
