Those in need of a reason to bust out the vacation shirts and shades may want to meander over to the Fenway neighborhood tonight (January 30), where Boston-born “bird music” band Asanabenche will take the stage at Rockwood Music Hall.
The group started, like many great ensembles, as a weekly jam session between friends from disparate locales, and have since expanded into a jazz-funk-soul-reggae fusion bona fide jam band. With just a few singles under their belt, including last year’s “Asana” and “BOXED OUT,” they’re regulars here in Boston, as well as New York and, of course, Valencia, Spain.
To get audiences in the groove, the night kicks off with performances from “high-energy funk” group SKÅL and local indie-groove joint Round Trip, who obviously promise to “take you there and back.”
ASANABENCHE + SKÅL + ROUND TRIP :: Tuesday, January 30 at Rockwood Music Hall, 88 Van Ness St. in Boston, MA :: 7 p.m., 21-plus, $15 :: Advance tickets
