Readers of this arts publication already know we’re all about Bellforge Arts Center this summer. We’re plotting a Vanyaland music and comedy festival for August (more on that later), we’ve detailed the long-term arts and education vision of the former Medfield State Hospital space after getting an intimate look earlier this month, and our parent company Redefined is leading the charge in booking a full summer of programming highlighting some of New England’s best bands and artists, which kicked off last week with a Juneteenth celebration curated by Cliff Notez’ HipStory.
The beat rolls on this Saturday (June 25) with the launch of Summer Sounds, a free live music series stretched out across a trio of weekends this summer. The upcoming party features the aforementioned Cliff Notez, Blue Light Bandits, Zola Simone, Gatch, Kaylee Federmann, Paper Tigers, and Salem Wolves.
Summer Sounds returns July 30 with a hip-hop showcase featuring Van Buren Records, Latrell James, Red Shaydez, Najee Janey, Greg Roy, and DJ WhySham. And the final edition goes down August 27 with a TBA slate headlined by Valleyheart.
“We’re thrilled to be able to bring so much incredible talent to the Bellforge Arts Center this summer,” says Redefined CEO and Vanyaland publisher Paul Armstrong, curator of the summer programming at Bellforge. “Each ‘Summer Sound’ festival delivers a unique sound to the Medfield space and will provide local music lovers an opportunity to discover their new favorite artists.”
In addition to the tunes, Ribpublic BBQ serves up food, Del’s Frozen Lemonade rolls up its truck, Patrón Tequila offers a full bar. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the spacious lawn area in front of the stage, and take in the cottage surroundings that give Bellforge its historical status.
SUMMER SOUNDS :: Saturday, June 24 at Bellforge Arts Center, 45 Hospital Road in Medfield, MA :: Noon to 7 p.m., all-ages, free admission :: Event page
