If you were to say the most iconic creative export to come out of Medford was “Jingle Bells,” you’d be arguably correct. If you had to put down a number two, it’d have to be Robert Kelly – the comedian, not the other one — and he’s coming back for a little homecoming to show you exactly why.
With a four-show stint over the course of two nights starting on Friday (October 16) at Laugh Boston, Kelly returns with a fresh batch of material ahead of a few key dates on his calendar following the weekend in The Seaport. It’s never a bad idea, nor is it a rarity to see names on the year’s Comics Come Home dais flexing some material around town before hitting the big stage in November, which Kelly will do again this year as he has done annually for quite a while now. We’re also closing in on his next special taping, which is set to take place at Uptown Theatre in Providence in December, as the unofficial Pride of “Meffa” readies his first slate of recorded material since 2022’s Kill Box.
There’s quite a bit going on in Kelly’s orbit as it stands, which is impressive when you consider he also continues to co-host a pair of consistent weekly podcasts in You Know What, Dude!, and The Regz with Dan Soder, Luis J. Gomez, and Joe List, as well as the hit SiriusXM show The Bonfire alongside fellow comedian Big Jay Oakerson.
We’re willing to bet “Jingle Bells” can’t do any of that shit.
ROBERT KELLY :: Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17 at Laugh Boston, 425 Summer St. in Boston, MA :: Times vary, 16-plus, $39.90 :: Advance tickets
