Boston Calling dropped a bit of breaking news on Thursday, and there’s good with the bad. Most importantly, Rage Against The Machine will not be performing at this year’s festival, which takes place Memorial Day weekend at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston. The good news? We’ll get the full lineup tomorrow (January 21) at 10 a.m. EST, with word of an additional headliner to line up alongside Foo Fighters.

Rumors of Rage dropping off the bill have circulated in recent weeks, and that fear accelerated last week when the band cancelled their spring tour and were not listed on the Coachella lineup. Boston Calling also appeared to have delayed its full lineup reveal last week after teasing it on social media to align with Dave Grohl’s birthday.

Foo Fighters are the lone remaining headliner from the postponed 2020 edition, after it was revealed that Red Hot Chili Peppers would also not be performing and instead embark on a North American summer tour. There was no Boston Calling last year due to the pandemic.

In addition to Foo Fighters atop the lineup, this year’s slate — so far — features Run the Jewels, Black Pumas, HAIM, Sudan Archives, Celisse, KennyHoopla, and EarthGang. Boston Calling has promised more than 50 performers taking part in this year’s edition, as well as the new headlining act, so tomorrow’s news should be fairly sizable.

More to come…
