It’s pretty funny how a failed Marvel movie can spawn so many other features. From the ashes of the Mahershala Ali-led Blade reboot came Sinners (which used the unmade film’s costumes in its wardrobe), and now comes Bassam Tariq’s Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, which stars Ali as a badass religious hit man on the most exciting road trip since National Lampoon’s Vacation. How does this relate to Blade? Well, Tariq and Ali worked on the aborted picture together a few years back, and teamed up to stick it to the Mouse by doing something worthwhile with all that time spent working together.
Anyhow, Amazon/MGM dropped a trailer for the project earlier on Monday, and we have to say that this looks pretty dope. Goddamn, did Marvel fumble the bag here or what? We’re sure they don’t give too much of a shit, given that Brand New Day made nearly a billion dollars over the last few days (though it is a Sony project, lol), but that Blade could have been something truly special. Then again, Wesley Snipes would probably have put a hex on the goddamn movie, and you don’t want to fuck with Simon Phoenix.

Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother will premiere next month at TIFF (and believe us, we’re hoping that we get to check it out!) before it hits your local multiplex on September 25.
