Man, it’s so amazing to see Michael Keaton doing real comedy again. Sure, it’s the sequel to Beetlejuice (and we aren’t complaining about that!), but it’s just so weird that, once the dude put on a cowl, the public totally forgot that the man was one of his best comedic actors of his generation. Just go back and watch Mr. Mom or Johnny Dangerously — they hold up, we promise.
Anyhow, Tim Burton’s back in the saddle with Keaton and Winona Ryder for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and they’ve got a new all-star cast here to bring the Ghost with the Most back to the big screen. Understandably wanting some unseen footage to play in front of both Twisters and Deadpool and Wolverine, Warner Bros. dropped a new trailer on Thursday (July 18) that shows off all the goofy (and gross) action to come.
Peep it:
Here’s a synopsis:
“Beetlejuice is back! Oscar-nominated, singular creative visionary Tim Burton and Oscar nominee and star Michael Keaton reunite for ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,’ the long-awaited sequel to Burton’s award-winning ‘Beetlejuice.’ After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.”
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will hit theaters on September 6, which means your post-Labor Day weekend plans are all set. Just don’t wear white to it unless it has black vertical stripes involved. And even then, you’re kind of pushing the boundaries of what’s acceptable in polite society. Just like Beetlejuice himself would.
