Mic’d Up: Ryan Shea hits all the feels with ‘I Hate What You Love’

The comfort of nostalgia is something that we’ve really come to cling to, especially in these wildly unrelenting and unprecedented times. However, Ryan Shea is coming back this week to tell you, in no uncertain terms, that whatever we look back in fondly actually kinda sucks really badly.

If you’ve managed to dig yourself out of this latest tundra dump of a New England late-winter snowstorm, warm up in the confines of The Comedy Studio as Shea returns for another midweek romp on Wednesday (February 25) with a fresh edition of his long-running music video-powered comedy show, I Hate What You Love. Part stand-up show, part pop culture courtroom, Shea brings comics on stage to do what they do best before he does the same, and it’s a ripping good time for anyone who likes comedy but also forgot about how wild the music videos of the ‘90s and early 2000’s were.

So beware: if you have a certain song or video that keeps you anchored to a time when things weren’t so tough to navigate, perhaps consider keeping it close to the chest. Or, on the other hand, put it out there for a room full of folks to judge, and maybe it’ll give you some fresh perspective.

I HATE WHAT YOU LOVE: A MUSIC VIDEO COMEDY SHOW :: Wednesday, February 25 at The Comedy Studio, 5 John F. Kennedy St. in Cambridge, MA :: 7 p.m., $18.95 to $23.95 :: Advance tickets
