After conquering virtually every stage in the city of Boston over the past decade, by no means should we consider Jo Koy filling any space smaller than an arena again a downgrade, or a step back. In fact, he’s still selling out arenas all over the place, and he’s as potent of a comedian as ever today – so, chances are he’s just playing, well, coy.
While a guarantee would be bold in practice, it’s highly likely that Koy will be bringing the latest evolution of his A-Game back to Boston this weekend as he sets up shop for two shows at Boch Center Wang Theatre starting tonight (February 20) as part of his Just Being Koy tour. It will be Koy’s first trip back to Boston since 2024, when he filled TD Garden.
It’s been a busy two years for Koy, as he has continued to tour the world in a grand capacity and release his latest stand-up special, Live From Brooklyn on Netflix, while also being tapped to host the Golden Globes in 2024, in addition to a handful of other creative projects away from the stand-up stage including a voice role in the Paramount+ animated film The Tiger’s Apprentice, and Disney’s Hailey’s On It!, as well as others.
In terms of consistency in today’s comedy landscape, you don’t much more consistent than Koy. Regardless of where he is, as he’ll show this weekend, there will always be good times to be had at one of his shows in the city, so check him out while he’s back in action.
