Over the years, Hannibal Buress has had no shortage of good times on comedy stages in and around Boston. As luck would have it, he’ll be making his way back to the city sooner rather than later, and he’s bringing some extra star power along for the experience.
As announced earlier this week, Buress will be making his way to The Wilbur Theatre on November 20, and joining him to create a comedically potent two-headed monster is Saturday Night Live star Michael Che. While Buress, who ended his tenure as co-host of The Eric Andre Show in 2020, has continued to bring his all-star comedy chops to stand-up stages all over the country, Buress has also made quite the stride in the world of music with his rap alter ego Eshu Tune, having recently released a number of singles including “I Lift Weights,” and “Knee Brace.” In terms of comedy, his most recent stand-up special, Miami Nights received critical acclaim it’s creative ingenuity and topical nature.
Che has also continued to conquer the stand-up realm, having released his most recent special, Shame The Devil on Netflix in 2021 in addition to his work as a cast member and host of Weekend Update on SNL.
Christopher Titus will also be making his way back to The Wilbur stage on January 20 as part of his Carrying Monsters tour. Most recently, while continuing to tour the country in front of sold-out crowds, Titus released a new stand-up special, Zero Side Effects in 2022.
Modi brings his Know Your Audience tour to The Wilbur on February 29. In addition to being a highly sought-after talent in the comedy game, the Boston University grad has headlined all over globe, and further cemented his place in the scene as a co-founder of The Chosen Comedy Festival in 2022. Since Mayor Bill de Blasio declared June 26, 2018 to be “Mordechi Modi Rosenfeld Day” in New York, Modi has also taken to the screen a bit by playing himself on HBO’s Crashing and Netflix’s When Jews Were Funny. He’s also appeared in several feature films and played leading roles in two, Waiting for Woody Allen, which won the LA Film Festival, and Stand Up.
Natalie Cuomo and Dan LaMorte are joining forces of their own for a two-sided coin of powerful comedy when they make their way to Somerville’s Crystal Ballroom on March 8. As two of the most in-demand voices in the New York comedy scene, where Cuomo also runs her Classy Trashy Comedy show and LaMorte has called home as a fixture over the course of the last decade, the duo has amassed significant followings in their respective creative lanes. In addition to her debut special, Shut Up You Loved It, Cuomo has also gained a large following both in and outside of the comedy realm as a result of her podcast, Help! With Natalie Cuomo s as of her interactive approach to social media like TikTok and Twitch.
LaMorte has built upon his solid comedy skills as he’s utilized his unique perspective of being on the autism spectrum, and being upfront about his past struggles with weight loss — a journey that has been well documented on a number of networks, and even publications like Runner’s World. Over the course of his time on the stand-up grind, LaMorte has also released two albums, Not Enough Pieces and Infect Me Once.
Catherine Cohen will be making her way to town for one show at Crystal Ballroom on March 9, as part of her Come For Me tour. In addition to her work on stage, which has resulted in her debut special The Twist…? She’s Gorgeous on Netflix in 2022, Cohen has also published a book of poetry in 2021taken to the screen with a handful of in-film roles including Paramount’s At Midnight, Hulu’s What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding, and the indie comedy Dating & New York, opposite Jaboukie Young-White.
Additionally, Mike Birbiglia continues to have us saying “when” as he sprinkles on two more Christmas Parmesan shows during his holiday homecoming next month, with two new shows added on December 15 and 16. Those shows are on sale now.
Presale tickets for these shows can be accessed now by using the Wilbur presale code VANYA, before tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (November 10) starting at 10 a.m. ET, with the exception of the Modi, Cohen and Birbiglia shows, which are on sale now.
