Icona Pop and Galantis deliver a dance floor invitation with ‘I Want You’

Valentine’s Day may be so last week, but Icona Pop is forever. The Swedish dance-pop duo, who dropped debut — and so far only — album This Is… Icona Pop a decade ago this September before a wild string of collaborations, remixes, and releases, slid back into our playlists and dance floors this past Friday (February 17) with a little help from countrymates Galantis.

The result is a certified bop in “I Want You,” an upbeat club number that teases a forthcoming new album recorded post-quarantine in Caroline and Aino’s native Stockholm, the pair finding themselves back “where it all started.”

“We got back to what we love,” says Aino. “It was the quietest period we’ve experienced in 10-plus years, so it’s crazy we made such danceable music. We felt the need to do something more up-tempo.”

Sounds fab to us. This Galantis collab appears to be the start of a new era for Icona Pop, and we’re excited to hear what’s next. In the meantime, slot into the affirmative, buckle up that beaten heart, and get loud on the dance floor with “I Want You” below.
