Editor’s Note: Usually, the best part about the comedy scene blossoming in and around Boston this time of year is that there is never a shortage of shows to check out, as homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore make their way through and around the area. But this year just feels different, as live entertainment is slowly making its way back into our social calendar. We always want to make sure you know about cool stuff going on in the world of comedy, so check back each week for our ongoing Mic’d Up series, detailing the best live comedy shows to consider as you head back out. Below find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (November 21).

Brian Regan: November 17 at Hanover Theatre

Nothing menacing or divisive. Just straight up jokes and stories that will give you a night to remember. That’s how Brian Regan is doing it, and that’s how he’s always done it. While he may paint himself as a buffoon on stage, Regan remains to be one of the smartest and sharpest comedians in the game, and hasn’t lost his edge, even after all these years.

Wednesday, November 17 :: 8 p.m. :: Hanover Theatre, 2 Southbridge St. in Worcester :: Tickets are $39.50 to $45

Gary Gulman: November 19 at The Wilbur Theatre

Fresh off of his milestone show at Carnegie Hall, the Gul makes his way back home for a sold-out soirée on ye olde Tremont Street. A new show and fresh excitement for the gentle giant is sure to help shake The Wilbur to its core to end the week, as it always does when the “Boyish Man” is back in town, but let’s be honest… Gary Gulman doesn’t need any help in doing that. But it does feel nice to welcome a local legend back with open arms every time.

Friday, November 19 :: 7:30 p.m. :: The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston :: Tickets are $37

Jason Cordova: November 19 and 20 at The Comedy Attic

Jason Cordova has been letting us into the nooks and crannies of his mind for upwards of a decade now, and over the course of that time, it’s only evolved and gotten deeper. Never afraid to tell his truth and venture into certain “uncomfortable” territories like race and stereotypes, among a plethora of others, Cordova continues to up his game as one of the best in the biz, night after night.

Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20 :: Both shows at 8 p.m. :: The Comedy Attic, 257 Park Ave. in Worcester :: Tickets are $20

Chris Distefano: November 21 at The Wilbur Theatre

Chrissy Chaos. Chrissy Baked Beans. Chrissy Clam Chowder. Whatever you want to call him, Chris Distefano is bringing the comedy rain to Boston this week. Following a completely sold out five-show slate at Laugh Boston, the New Yorker pulls up to The Wilbur as part of his new tour with some new jokes in store for a wildly loyal and energized fanbase.

Sunday, November 21 :: 5 and 8 p.m. :: The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston :: Tickets are $29 to $121
