Photo Gallery: Orville Peck and Le Ren live in Somerville

Photo: John Hutchings for Vanyaland

Editor’s Note: The story of Orville Peck is already legend. A mysterious, masked outlaw country crooner wiping out everything you thought about country music in 2019, armed with delicate fringe covering his face, the voice of all your past indiscretions, and one of the greatest albums of the year in March’s breathtaking Sub Pop release, Pony. Last night (September 19), the man, modern myth, and icon-in-the-making packed a very sold-out ONCE Ballroom in Somerville for one of the most anticipated live shows of 2019, showing a rapt crowd just what all that cowboy fuss is about. There was a sense in the room that Sir Peck wouldn’t be playing clubs this intimate and cozy much longer, and the audience hung on the star performer’s every turn. Vanyaland’s Jack Hutchings showed his own kind of giddyup, capturing visuals from Peck’s performance and that of opener Le Ren. Scan through his full gallery below. Yeehaw.
