When Alex Lahey released her vibrant single “Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself” a few weeks back, it reaffirmed the Australian musician as one of the great songwriters of our time. Her punchy 2017 album I Love You Like A Brother holds up as one of the finest releases of the decade, and now she appears up to the follow-up task with sophomore record The Best of Luck Club, which hits May 17 via Dead Oceans.

The vibe of The Best of Luck Club comes further into focus today with another new single, this time a rather throwback rock banger titled “Am I Doing It Right?”, which comes complete with news of summer North American tour that finds Lahey returning to Great Scott on August 25.

“Being a musician is considered a weird job without any explanation necessary, but one of the strangest parts about being a musician is that there is absolutely no set pathway you’re supposed to follow to get where you want to go,” Lahey says about her new single. “This song reflects on being thrust into a lifestyle and going with it while feeling like others are looking over your shoulder to make sure you’re doing all the right things by you and everyone else. It’s like fighting a losing battle while loving every minute of it.”

Put us down as ones who think Lahey is doing all the right things. Listen to “Am I Doing It Right? below, and get all the dates after the video jump. Tickets go on sale Friday (April 5) at 10 a.m.
