Julia Holter and Jessica Moss live at Brighton Music Hall

Photo Gallery: Holter's recent album 'Aviary' was heard in full sound and spectrum this past Saturday in Allston

Editor's Note: There's a lot at play in Julia Holter's latest album, this past fall's Aviary. The Los Angeles-based art-pop composer described the LP upon its October release as “the cacophony of the mind in a melting world,” and on Saturday night (February 23), Holter brought that approach to Allston for a headlining appearance at Brighton Music Hall. On stage and backed by a full band, Holter delivered many of Aviary's experimental shifts and glides, balancing the worlds of pop and ambiance in each composition. Opening the show was Montreal violinist Jessica Moss, also known for her work in Canadian post-rock band Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, who released her latest album, Entanglement, on the same day last October as Holter's Aviary. Ben Stas was inside the Allston rock club to capture visuals of both performances, and you can flip through his full gallery, beginning with Holter's set, below.
