FacexHugger unleashes a pummeling electro re-work of a Taylor Dayne classic

Last month at Overdrive, the synthwave dance party at ZuZu in Cambridge that comes highly recommended, resident DJ J-808 debuted FacexHugger’s insane re-work of Taylor Dayne’s 1987 freestyle classic “Tell It To My Heart.”

The track slayed a packed dance floor.

“It instantly became a crowd favorite,” says J-808 on his Seacoast of Synth page. And we certainly don’t doubt him. The feedback must have been so promising, the California-based FacexHugger, who makes electronic and synth music inspired by his love of horror and sci-fi, has put the track up on his Bandcamp page for free download.

It’s worth a DL, particularly for how seamless Danye’s vocals glide on this almost-industrial edit; and while you’re there, check out FacexHugger’s May LP Sci-Fi Violence.

The next Overdrive, by the way, hits ZuZu on Friday, October 12. Maybe a synthwave cover of Shannon’s “Let the Music Play” will surface by then. We can only hope.
