The crisp chill of Patriots Day weekend is one thing that sticks with every New Englander, for a myriad of reasons. For Joe List, it’s a chance to come home, catch a Red Sox game, and — as he’s done in years past, and will do again 2027 — deliver a fresh stand-up show on home turf.
As announced earlier this week, the stand-up comedian and filmmaker will make his way back to the Theatre District for one night at The Wilbur on April 17. As has been the nearly annual case over the last few years, the Whitman native is making the most of the rare weekend retreat to his native land, which will almost certainly include his customary stop at Fenway for the late-morning Red Sox game on Marathon Monday, in addition to the big event on Boylston Street.
Most recently, List released his latest stand-up special, Small Ball on YouTube in 2025, alongside his latest work behind the camera with Tom Dustin: Portrait of a Comedian. He also continues to host the weekly podcast, Tuesdays with Stories, alongside Mark Normand.
As well, fellow locally-sourced comedy all-star Pete Holmes is set to make his way back to Boston for one night at The Wilbur on March 19 as part of his We’re Having Fun! tour, while Ashley Gavin is returning on her one terms with one show at the legendary venue on March 26.
Before all that happens, though, Drew Lynch and Joe Gatto are joining forces for a night of tag-team championship comedy at The Wilbur on December 27, while Des Bishop will stick around even longer with a third show added to his Wilbur stop in the new year on March 13.
The Wilbur isn’t the only barn having fun in the new year, though, as Iliza Shlesinger is looking to unleash her next hour of stand-up at Medford’s Chevalier Theatre next fall, with one show on October 23 as part of her upcoming Free Nights & Weekends tour.
