Hey there, random person still rocking that WFNX Radio hoodie — have we got news for you.
Looks like Pixies and Weezer are hitting the road together next summer, and given the former’s indisputable ties to Massachusetts and the latter’s frontman’s academic career at Harvard, we could call this one of the biggest local tours of Summer 2018.
The 29-date co-headlining tour kicks off June 23 in Tampa and wraps August 12 in Phoenix. Along the way, it drops by the XFinity Center in Mansfield on July 17. Tickets to all shows go on sale tomorrow (Friday, November 10) via Ticketmaster.
“We’re all big Weezer fans,” says Pixies’ Black Francis, “so we’re really looking forward to this summer. We have a lot of respect for Weezer, they’re not afraid to take risks with their music.”
Weezer’s latest risk arrived last week in the former of new album Pacific Daydream. We’ve yet to hear it. We’re sure it’s fine.
Check out all the dates below — and take note: The Wombats are on board as openers, but only until July 15, meaning we here in Massachusetts miss out. Support for the second leg will be announced shortly.
