Free Laughs In A Time When Life Is Expensive: Comedy Is King lands at Hojoko

It opened like 15 minutes ago, but Hojoko is already one of our favorite spots in the city. Whether we are celebrating an anniversary, raising a tiki to #617Day, or grabbing a bite after our pool parties at The Verb on the other side of the arch, the Fenway izakaya has been a new home base for all our rock and roll revelry.

And now we're starting to laugh about it.

No, seriously.

This Monday (June 26), the Comedy Is King series lands at Hojoko, and Vanyaland is stoked to be on board as a media partner. And few things pair better with Okonomiyaki or tuna poke quite like a free comedy show at what GQ called one of the "Least Douchey Bars in Boston".

The night features a trio of laugh slingers: Boston Calling's Lamont Price, Comedy Central's Kerryn Feehan, and Jeff Hammel, who is billed on the flyer as "none other than the legendary Charles Penguin" and we're not even gonna look that up because it's perfect and better than anything we could ever think of to write so let's just roll with whatever the hell it means. In addition, the Vincent King Band performs live.

It's also Price's birthday, so hey sorry, it's now a birthday party and you have to show up. "It's a free show, so you'll have extra money to bring me weed and cupcakes," says Price.
