Professional-quality recording app made for musicians. Available now from the App Store.

Oh man, South-By-Southwest is almost here.

Ten days of crazy parties, taco trucks, tech talks, a Vanyaland party, music showcases from every label under the sun, and — perhaps most importantly in 2017 — a crazy good film festival, full of world premieres from the biggest studios and esoteric delights from all over the globe in every genre.

We’re super excited to be covering the festival in an expanded role this year, and before we head down to the great city of Austin, we’ve picked a selection of five films from a gargantuan list that stand out to us the most as must-sees. We’re excluding SXSW opening night film Song to Song, which we’ve already covered.

Baby Driver

To say we’re excited for this world premiere would be the understatement of the century. A music-obsessed getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) decides to leave the business to go straight with his best girl (Lily James) after doing one last job for a prominent crime boss (Kevin Spacey). Needless to say, everything that can go wrong does, and soon the driver’s got to face the music. You’re not wrong to think this sounds a bit like Drive [Editor’s note: Awesome], but Wright’s incredibly well-made films are always an absolute delight, and the world’s long overdue for another one of his classics. The cast is absolutely stacked, as well, with Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm, Jon Bernthal and Sky Ferreira (!) each in supporting roles. Clearly, this’ll be one of the big highlights of the festival, and we can only hope it lives up to the hype.
