At this point in the summer, school district custodians everywhere are working tirelessly to put the finishing touches on months of hard work to get their buildings ready for another school year. As you’ll see this weekend, however, that’s not stopping Jimmy Cash from absolutely waxing the stage of one of the most legendary venues in the country.
Returning to what is sure to be another home turf heater at The Wilbur on Saturday (August 29), Cash is bringing the heat once again. There’s always something to be said for a feel-good story about a local talent who reaches the masses in a unique and genuine way, which the proud Worcester native has done by the bucket load over the years, but it’s the caliber of his stand-up perspective and a punk rock disregard for keeping his art in a box that truly separates Cash from the rest. The best part about it? He only continues to get bigger and better with every new video he releases or every new Plymouth Rock commercial we see on TV, so catching him live on a stand-up stage sounds like one hell of a way to close out the summer and get mentally ready for a new school year.
He may be popping off a few miles from Worcester, but make no mistake that Cash is wielding a creative force that needs as much room to expand as possible — and the entire Commonwealth is eagerly taking the time to watch it all unfold.
