Red Hot Chili Peppers’ incredible 1991 album Blood Sugar Sex Magik turns 25 years old on Saturday — part of an impressive lot of records celebrating anniversaries this month — and for better or worse, the California band is showing no signs of slowing down.
Earlier this summer they released their eleventh LP, called The Getaway, which included the not-terrible lead single “Dark Necessities”, and today announced they will kickstart 2017 with a full-blown North American tour.
That tour, which kicks off January 5 in San Antonio, comes to Boston’s TD Garden on February 7. Things wrap March 18 in Vancouver, and more live dates are expected to be announced, making 2017 a fairly busy time for Flea and company. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will provide support for all dates, including the Boston stop.
Tickets go on sale this weekend, and we’re told that “[e]very ticket purchased includes a choice of a standard physical or standard digital copy of The Getaway.”
