#Baustin: Listen to the bands playing our SXSW party with Berklee College of Music

Last week we unveiled the lineup for Boston & Beyond 2016, our collaborative project with Berklee College of Music that brings the best in new music to the stage and your earholes. Fresh off a rousing CMJ party last fall, we’re back at it with another free South-By-Southwest party later this month, March 17 at Brush Square Park’s West Tent, from noon to 6 p.m., located next to the Austin Convention Center. Our event is all ages, and open to SXSW badge holders. Get on the list without charge by RSVPing here.

And the lineup features seven of your new favorite bands, duos, and projects: Seattle guitar-rock band Great Grandpa, Los Angeles indie upstarts IAN, Allston garage rock trio Lady Pills (selected by Heavy Rotation Records), electronic-pop duo mar | co, psych-pop project Plastic Waves, riff-mad Brooklyn rock quintet Rann, and the latest and final addition, alt-pop wizard M + E.

Boston & Beyond 2016 is presented by The Red Room @ Cafe 939, Berklee Alumni Affairs, Heavy Rotation Records (HRR), and Vanyaland. This is Berklee’s 11th annual event at SXSW. Listen in on March 17 via VanyaRadio.

Great Grandpa

Seattle-based Great Grandpa – Alex Menne, Pat Goodwin, Carrie Miller, Cam LaFlam, and alumnus Dylan Hanwright – formed in 2014. After releasing an EP, they were picked up by label Broken World Media, run by Derrick Shanholtzer-Dvorak of The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die. Said Stereogum, “five songs worth of knotty, twisted, and warm rock music that’s as melodically satisfying as it is, at times, confounding.” The group has shared the stage with Screaming Females, Palehound, and TTNG, and is working on its debut album.
