We’re throwing a party on St. Patrick’s Day — in Austin, Texas.
Armed with some hometown sounds, Boston’s penchant for a good time, and a little bit of luck, Berklee College of Music and Vanyaland are proud to announce the latest Boston & Beyond bash at South-By-Southwest‘s music segement. This year’s event goes down March 17 at Brush Square Park’s West Tent, on the corner of East 5th and Neches streets. The high-visibility outdoor performance space has been the Boston & Beyond home for the past three years, and the invite is now out for eligible bands to fill out the lineup for the 2016 party.
For this official SXSW party (included on SXSW.com, in the SXSW Party Guide, and SXSW Directory), each of the seven bands or artists will perform a 30-minute set. Last year’s event drew roughly 2,000 music fans to Brush Square Park, and past Berklee SXSW events have featured artists like Lucius, Nini & Ben (of HAERTS), Melissa Ferrick, Air Traffic Controller, Elizabeth & the Catapult, Ballroom Thieves, Radclyffe Hall, Apollo Sunshine, Madi Diaz, Hallelujah the Hills, St. Nothing, Cask Mouse, and Brad Barr from the Slip.
The Boston & Beyond party is open to any bands or solo artists with at least one connection to Berklee, either as a current student or alumni. Those selected will also be given significant advance coverage on Vanyaland, including individual artist spotlights and focused airplay on VanyaRadio.
The deadline to apply through Vanyaland is Tuesday, February 2. As you tidy up your presentation, listen to a live compilation from last year’s party below.
