Eagles Of Death Metal urge musicians and DJs to cover ‘I Love You All The Time’ for Paris charity

Eagles of Death Metal have issued a challenge to fellow musicians and the music industry: use our music for good.

The California rock band will be forever linked to tragedy after terrorists stormed their November 13 show at the Bataclan in Paris, killing 89 concertgoers, including their merch manager Nick Alexander, as part of a citywide attack in the French capital that left roughly 130 dead. But in the band’s first interview since the attacks, co-founders Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme (who was not present at the Bataclan that night) offered up the Eagles of Death Metal song “I Love You All The Time” for anyone to cover, with all proceeds and royalties going to Homme’s own charity, The Sweet Stuff Foundation.

“We have a song called ‘I Love You All The Time’ and if you’re a country artist, death metal, if you’re a DJ, if you’re rock, it doesn’t matter, cover that song and we’ll donate the publishing,” Homme says around the 21-minute mark in the VICE interview, posted below. “Our label will donate the mastering and all the publishing. Also, I would challenge iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Tidal, whomever delivers music to get on board and if that song is recorded to donate all of it so the entirety can be designated to help anyone that was a victim of this Paris attack and ruined by this to build again.

Homme adds: “Frankly, no one can do this alone. And the more united, the more solidarity, the more together it is, the more it’s like a beacon of compassion and love and a progression forward, to be part of something greater.”

The gesture was inspired by Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran. Before the attacks, Eagles of Death Metal collaborated with Duran Duran on the pop’s group’s 1982 hit “Save A Prayer,” and Le Bon pledged to donate to charity any money raised from the cover.

“I Love You All The Time” is from Eagles of Death Metal’s 2015 album Zipper Down; listen to it below, and read the lyrics after the video jumps. Other donation options are currently available via the French Red Cross website.

Eagles of Death Metal, “I Love You All The Time”

I love you all the time

I’m never alone, I look at my phone
If I call you up, you’re never at home

I love you all the time

I’m fueled up and high, I’m out with the guys
A smile on my face, no reason to cry

I love you all the time

I can tell by that look in your eye
You’re looking and all you see is another guy
I can tell you’re gonna take your love away

I can tell by that look in your eye
You’re looking and all you see is another guy
I would beg you if I thought it would make you stay

Ce soir c’est le soir et toi avec moi
Et tu viens me voir, tu viens ouh la la

I love you all the time

Tu me réponds pas, ah dis-moi pourquoi
Just say au revoir, again me voilà

I love you all the time

I can tell by that look in your eye
You’re looking and all you see is another guy
I can tell you’re gonna take your love away

I can tell by that look in your eye
You’re looking and all you see is another guy
I would beg if I thought it would make you stay
I would beg if I thought it would make you stay
I would beg if I thought it would make you stay

Ah dis-moi pourquoi
Ah dis-moi pourquoi
Ah dis-moi pourquoi
