Friends In Need: Big Time Kill & Band Without Hands team up to benefit Doctors Without Borders

If there are two Boston bands that are making us nostalgic for the glory days of early ’90s industrial rock, it’s Big Time Kill and Band Without Hands. The former caught out attention over the summer with pummeling debut single “I Want To Be Your Man,” and the latter skillfully got their Reznor on with a rousing Halloween cover set as Nine Inch Nails.

Now the two Boston bands are joining forces to raise money for global organization Doctors Without Borders. Last week, Big Time Kill unveiled their electric remix of Band Without Hands’ track “Hello Despair,” and this Saturday they share the stage at Copperfield’s in the Fenway for Get It On’s Alternarock fest.

Proceeds from sales of the digital single will go to Doctors Without Borders, as well as money earned at the two bands’ performances this weekend. Band Without Hands are also donating proceeds from their following show, December 13 in Beverly with When Particles Collide, as well.

Bands Without Hands front woman Jess Jacobs says they were inspired to act after the outbreak of Ebola cases around the world, and how Doctors Without Borders sprang into action.

“Now that it’s not politically convenient, the media have dropped the story on the disease but people are still dying so I want to send the biggest donation possible,” Jacobs tells Vanyaland.
