Bawl-itdaba: Watch Kid Rock surprise a superfan with Down syndrome for his 30th birthday

Kid Rock gets a lot of shit these days, but it’s hard to hate on the smooth move he pulled earlier this week, when he unexpectedly rolled up to the birthday party of one of his biggest fans.

30-year-old Dan McGurk, who has Down syndrome, spent part of the summer making a YouTube video inviting Kid Rock to his upcoming birthday party. It was viewed more than 17,000 times as of last week.

On Monday, the party went down at the Union Woodshop in Clarkston, Michigan, and as family and guests huddled around McGurk for some post-dinner birthday cake, Kid Rock rolls through the door to sing “Happy Birthday.”

Not a dry eye in the room.

Kid comes through with a pumpkin-shaped birthday cake, an “American Badass” trucker hat, a signed poster, and a guitar, which he signed in front of McGurk.

Pretty cool.

The video, titled “Dan’s 30th: Kid Rock Shows Up!!! #BawitaBirthday” and posted two days ago, has soared past 300,000 views. Kid walks in around the 2:50 mark.
