Phish Fans Get A Finn: Watch Tuukka Rask jam out on drums with Buffalo band the Mustn’ts

Earlier this year Boston Bruins netminder Tuukka Rask was nominated for Most Metal Athlete in the Revolver Magazine Golden Gods awards, eventually losing out to UFC fighter Josh Barnett.

His chances of winning next year’s crown might take an even further hit after metal fans see him playing drums to a Phish song. But that’s exactly what the defending Vezina Trophy-winning goalie was caught doing Friday night in Buffalo, joining local band the Mustn’ts for a rendition of Phish’s 2000 song “Back On The Train.”

Scandinavian black metal this is not.

The performance went down at a Buffalo rock club called Nietzsche’s, and the stage area kind of looks like that of Fenway rock club Church. A few Bruins players were in attendance for the gig — cheering their goalie’s one-song stand as rock star drummer — which came the night before the Bruins shut out the Sabres, 4-0.

For that game, it should be noted, Rask was on the bench. Probably playing air-drums.
