Mad Fer It: Starting tonight, London Calling with Ian Camfield to air twice weekly on Vanya Radio

Boston Calling might not be until next weekend, but London Calling is here tonight. The long-running British rock radio program makes its Vanya Radio debut this evening at 8 p.m. EST, bringing the style, sound and taste of XFM’s Iam Camfield to Vanyaland’s streaming station.

The New Alternative is now an even better alternative, as the 120 minutes-long London Calling will air twice a week: first on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. EST., then again the following Monday. Consider it a primer for the weekend, as well as a hangover cure.

Those in Boston may recognize London Calling as the nationally syndicated radio program that aired Sunday nights on WFNX 101.7 FM, just after my former Boston Accents local show. The program focuses on a mix of new, up-and-coming bands emerging from the United Kingdom and looks back at classic hits from the heralded Britpop, Madchester, baggy, and shoegaze scenes.

Here’s a peek at tonight’s playlist, to give you an idea of what to expect…
