Dropkick Murphys to sing National Anthem before tonight’s World Series Game 6

Shit’s about to get real. While Yankee fan and Bronx native Mary J. Blige did a nice job in Game 1, and beloved homegrown singer James Taylor quickly rebounded from a miscue in Game 2, Game 6’s National Anthem tonight is going to be as Boston as it can possibly get.

Yeah dawg — the Dropkick Murphys will be getting it started tonight at Fenway Park. They brought the old house down back during Game 6 of the American League Championship Series earlier this month. And that worked out just fine. They even busted out some “Shipping Up To Boston” (woahh ohh ohhhhh) which might have upset MLB but who cares this is our city we do what we want.

Check out the clip above. In a city that loves its Halloween cover shows, the Dropkicks are busting out the ultimate cover when it matters most.

Hat tip to Jed Gottlieb’s Guestlisted, who called for the Dropkicks to come back before Game 1.

We had our own vote after Blige’s appearance was announced last week, and the Dropkicks led our poll with 70 percent of the vote. Others receiving nods were Amanda Palmer and Rene Rancourt.
