Black Light Dinner Party tease debut LP, ‘Sons And Lovers’; new music out this week

The evolution of Black Light Dinner Party is nearly complete, and last week the Boston-born and Brooklyn-bred electronic pop quartet not only teased their debut LP, Sons And Lovers, but also promised new music as early as this week.

BLDP, which launched in late 2009 as a collection of anonymous bedroom-pop producers but now more resembles a full band with an engaging, personable live show, unveiled this 73-second trailer, soundtracked by the album’s title track.

“This trailer is made from stitched together cuts from the video of the title track and final song on the album,” drummer Zach Lipkins tells Vanyaland. “We will have several songs coming out over the next couple of months, including this one, early [this] week.”

No word on whether previous singles like “Gold Chain” and “Older Together” will be on the full-length, but even if the album is a sort-of “best of” compiling the band’s bounty of brilliant stand-alone singles dating back to their inception, there’s still room for a handful of new stuff we’ve yet to hear.

We’ll certainly get a taste of the record on August 10, when BLDP perform at this year’s KahBang Music & Arts festival in Bangor, Maine. After that, Sons And Lovers is expected to drop this fall, and a full US tour will launch around that time as well.
