Taylor Swift donates ‘hundreds’ of Gillette concert tickets to local police

Taylor Swift is coming through for local police departments.

The Reputation pop star is performing three nights at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough later this week (July 26, 27, and 28), and according to Boston25, has reportedly donated “hundreds” of concert tickets to the Weymouth Police Department and departments from surrounding communities.

Boston25 posted to Instagram: “Boston25 has learned @taylorswift made the donation to @weymouthpd and surrounding departments after the death of Sgt. Michael Chesna! #ThinBlueLine #ReputationStadiumTour #TaylorSwift #ReputationTour”

Weymouth, as well as the fraternity of police departments across the region, is still mourning the murder of 42-year-old Sgt. Michael Chesna, who was shot and killed on July 15 after investigating a car crash. A 77-year-old bystander, Vera Adams, was also killed in the altercation; a 20-year-old suspect has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder.

CBS Boston reports that Chesna was “a fervent New England Patriots fan,” and Swift brings the Reputation Stadium Tour back to the home of the Pats after performing two dates there in 2015.
