By this point of the summer, we’ve exhausted SiriusXM’s entire Yacht Rock catalog, burned through all our chillwave records, and can’t stand to hear anyone’s version of “Africa” ever again. So where do we go in attempts to reclaim our summer cool? We visit the land of Wild Nothing. The dream-pop project from Jack Tatum has offered up one chill number in “Partners In Motion”, and it’s the second single from forthcoming August album Indigo. “My entire 20s have been spent on this project, and in that sense you inherently find the limitations in what you make,” says Tatum, via his label Captured Tracks. “With the last record I was trying to stretch out as far as I could, but with Indigo I’ve created something that has homed in on its own identity. My life has become less about chasing these creative bursts and more about learning to channel my creativity.” We like where this is heading. Wild Nothing also head out on a fall North American tour later this year, and it arrives at Boston’s Royale on November 14. Featured photo by Cara Robbins.
