Horror Store: The kid from A24’s ‘Hereditary’ has an Etsy page

We’ve heard a ton about Ari Aster’s Hereditary over the last several months since it premiered at Sundance (the flu robbed us of the chance to see that as well), with many critics and popular figures saying that it’s the kind of once-a-generation horror movie that you might want to watch at home with all the lights on.

So what’s a better way to capitalize on this early wave of publicity than signing up for an Etsy site and selling handmade dolls based on the ones made by Charlie Graham (Milly Shapiro) in the film? Well, that’s exactly what uber-distributor A24 has done — though they’re definitely not strangers to this kind of gonzo publicity — and they’ll be selling a limited number of statues over the course of the next few months.

Check out the site here, and, sadly, they’re all sold out for this week. A24 advises you to check out the site at the start of each week, as they’ll be randomly dropping new pieces then. For an idea of what you’ll be getting for your hard-earned dough, Moonlight director Barry Jenkins memorably received one at his hotel room the morning after the SXSW screening of the film, and this picture gives you a good idea of both the film’s aesthetic and the physical make of these little dolls.

Finally, the distributor also dropped a new trailer for the film, which you can see below.

Here’s a synopsis via the A24 website:

When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown that exhibits the craft and precision of a nascent auteur, transforming a familial tragedy into something ominous and deeply disquieting, and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell.

Here’s the new trailer:

Hereditary hits theaters on June 8.
