Hot potato!
The English town of Swindon is on high alert after police reported a Noel Gallagher look-alike has been spotted swigging booze and licking windows.
But don’t worry, it’s not actually Noel perpetrating these heinous acts, as the former Oasis guitarist was busy on stage with his High Flying Birds in Brazil at the time of the alleged incident.
“You know it’s going to be one of those shifts,” Swindon North Police posted to Facebook on Sunday, “when you get a report of ‘A Noel Gallagher look-a-like swigging from a bottle of White Lightning and licking windows!’”
Police are currently looking for more information on the suspect, and had a bit of fun with the whole thing in their additional comments to Metro.
“We received reports of a man resembling Noel Gallagher in Swindon at around 5.30 p.m. yesterday who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was licking windows — not a ‘Wonderwall’ and he may have been ‘Half the World Away,’” police quip, via the NME. “It’s believed he was with another person causing a general nuisance. The incident was nowhere near the Oasis, but in the town centre, near the Wyvern Theatre… If anyone heard or saw anything suspicious in the area, please Don’t Look Back in Anger but contact us on 101.”
Crikey.
The real Noel Gallagher has been in the news quite a bit lately, releasing new single and Paul Weller collaboration “Holy Mountain” earlier this month in advance of the November 24 release of upcoming High Flying Birds record Who Built The Moon?
Additionally, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds play the Boston Opera House on February 17, and we’re required by Britpop law to tell you that brother Liam plays the House of Blues in Boston on November 25.
Board up your windows.
