Autumn Gaze: Infinity Girl release video for ‘Firehead’, announce November tour

Brooklyn-via-Boston shoegazers Infinity Girl released one of the finer records of the year a few weeks ago in Harm. Their Topshelf Records debut is the type of release that allows for visual interpretation, emotive sounds and noises that tell their own story but enable to listener to lose him or herself in the space between the headphones. If you daydreamed of wayward birds and gazed skyward during the fuzzed-out tones of lead single “Firehead,” you’ll now find yourself in-sync with the noisy quartet.

This week, Infinity Girl dropped a video for the purring track, shot by Gregg Conde, and produced and edited by Brady Custis of fellow Brooklyn/Boston ‘gazers Coaches.

“I used to work in South Boston which is right by Logan Airport,’ Custis tells Bullett Media, which premiered the video this week. “I’d be outside most of the time so I’d basically watch planes take off and land all day. They always seemed to be barely above the buildings and beaches. I loved the dichotomy of seeing the seagulls flying by the beaches in these crazy patterns while these huge man-made machines flew straight through the air above them. Once I got a shot of the moon I saw the story arc for the video play out in my head and the narrative seemed right for ‘Firehead.’ People’s ability to imitate and the leaps that these tools allow us to take.”

Infinity Girl’s narrative leads them out on a 16-date tour next month, which comes to Out Of The Blue Gallery Too in Cambridge’s Central Square on November 8. There are a handful of other New England dates in the mix as well (November 9 in Easthampton, Mass., November 10 in Manchester, N.H., November 11 in Portland, ME., etc.) and you can scan the full list of shows after the video jump.
