Man, how the hell has it been two years since The Beekeeper came out? And why on Earth are we so goddamned excited for the sequel? Well, it’s because David Ayer’s gone (the man had to do some doggone hard work with Brad Pitt on Heart of the Beast, which apparently paid off), and director Timo Tjahjanto is coming in to pinch-hit for the most successful current Jason Statham vehicle.
That’s right: Timo Tjahjanto, he behind The Night Comes For Us, also known as “the greatest action-horror film of the ’10s,” is directing The Beekeeper 2. If you just heard a shout near Boston, that was us jumping up and hitting the ceiling with excitement. Even if he’s not taking down a thinly veiled representation of the Epstein class, we’re down for whatever Tjahjanto serves us. And it looks like, at least from this trailer Amazon dropped on Thursday, that it’s going to be Statham killin’ dudes with a flamethrower. Can we get a hell yeah?
