There is a certain therapeutic quality to the air on Cape COD, so it makes sense that, after performing the biggest show of his career, John Mulaney has chosen the muscular forearm of Massachusetts to reset a little — and deliver a whole lot of laughs while he’s at it.
Following two shows at Nantucket Performing Arts Center tonight (July 23), Mulaney will then bring his ongoing Mister Whatever tour to Cape Cod Melody Tent for two shows in two nights starting on Friday (July 24). The quick flurry of shows from one of the biggest modern comedy superstars in the game comes just two weeks after Mulaney made history as the first comedian to ever perform at Wrigley Field in his native Chicago — a milestone show in front of his hometown crowd, which he sold out convincingly.
While we anxiously wait for the release of what is to inevitably become Mulaney’s next special with this current hour, let us remember just how layered his comedic arsenal is with his most recent special, Baby J, in addition to his hit Netflix variety show, Everybody’s in L.A..
