It’s been a bit since we’ve had a good “tough-guy-and-animal” picture (and no, we’re not really putting Superman in that category, as tough as the Man of Steel is), and it looks like Brad Pitt and Odin the dog are going to end the dry spell. They’re co-leads in David Ayer’s Heart of the Beast, a survival thriller about a man, a dog, a plane crash, and a journey home. What more do you really need for a compelling feature?
Anyhow, Paramount dropped a trailer for the project earlier on Thursday, and you know what? We’re happy and hyped to see Ayer working with the kind of story he built his career on before Suicide Squad fucked things up. If he has to do twenty Beekeepers to keep making projects like this, we’ll sit through every goddamn one of ’em.

Here’s a synopsis for Heart of the Beast:
“After a harrowing plane crash, Special Forces officer James Belmont (Brad Pitt) and his combat dog, Odin, find themselves stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements. From acclaimed filmmaker David Ayer, ‘Heart of the Beast’ is an intense adventure thriller that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet.”
Heart of the Beast hits theaters on September 25.
