We’re total sluts for Kim Petras, so when our alt-pop queen tells us to get aboard City Girls’ private pink plane, well, we don’t need to be asked twice. On Friday (October 20), the iconic singer and the Miami hip-hop duo teamed up for “Flashy,” a sharp disco-pop bop that has a new-retro 2010s-era shine to it. The feel-good party track is featured on City Girls’ new album RAW, out now via Quality Control Music/Motown.
“Working with Kim Petras was such a vibe – when she walked in her spirit was so bubbly and cute, and she just gives this excited energy so when you work with her you just get instantly excited,” says City Girls’ JT. “We want to thank her for doing this with us and giving us our first pop record!”
City Girls’ Yung Miami concurs, adding: “She was so sweet, when I met her I loved her as a being. It was so fun, I think her energy was great. It was one of the most funnest videos that I’ve shot in a while. She fucked it up, she was a vibe!”
And hell, let’s just close this out with a word from Petras: “I’m the biggest fan of City Girls. It was so fun making the ‘Flashy’ video with them and collaborating on a song together. I think it’s such a fun pop song and it’s a perfect mix of both of our artistic identities. I’m so proud to be a part of this with them!”
Get on board with the official music video for “Flashy,” directed by Jenzar, and sing along with Kimmy: Stylin’, shinin’ / I’m so flawless like my diamonds / I’m flashy / Big bags, price tags / You know all I wear is name brands / I’m flashy.”
Without a doubt.
