And finally, here’s the last major trailer to come out of this year’s CCXP, which is for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. We’re big fans of both Gunn and this particular segment of the MCU, which has made for flippant and fun times (though we haven’t checked out the Holiday Special yet, perhaps because we’re scared that a digitally-recreated Bea Arthur’s gonna show up alongside a very stoned cast), but it comes with some additional irony now that Gunn’s one of the head honchos over at the Distinguished Competition on the Warner Bros. lot. Still, it looks like a lot of fun, and it’ll definitely introduce a whole new segment of the population to one of Marvel’s most infuriating characters: Adam Warlock, played here by Will Poulter.

Here’s a synopsis, which does what it should while oh-so-subtly prompting you to just watch the fucking trailer already because if you don’t you’re not gonna see the High Evolutionary or Rocket’s new girlfriend or their new outfits or all the things that a scant 280-odd characters can’t fill in:
“Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 5, 2023. Let’s hope James Gunn has one solid Hall and Oates needledrop left in him. May we suggest… “She’s Gone?” Seems like a pretty good matchup with how this thing’s gonna start out. Also, start placing your bets on who’s gonna die, because this is the third and final Guardians movie, and something big’s gotta happen. We imagine Big Dave wants to get out of that contract, so Drax is pretty much a goner and the villain’s gonna get murked, much in Marvel fashion. But who else?
