Now here’s a Paul Greengrass movie we can legitimately get excited for. All the things we normally dislike about the Bourne innovator’s style — faux-doc shaky-cam and other hyper-modern styles — are genuinely interesting when used for stories set in the distant past (yes, we are the very few, the proud, the brave, the folks who liked Michael Mann’s Public Enemies because of its attempt to do something interesting in a period context).
So, Greengrass’s latest project, The Uprising, which features Andrew Garfield immersed in the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381, sounds dope. Though we are a bit disappointed — just think of all the Garfield jokes we could have made if only Focus had dropped this trailer on Monday instead of Thursday.
Also, holy shit, we just noticed that Jason Blum’s producing this, and that this technically is a Blumhouse-Atomic Monster joint. Are they going to use the hyper-laudatory logo video (you know, the one with Michael Myers and all of the other big-budget Blumhouse successes) in front of this? We doubt it, but it’d still be pretty funny.

The Uprising hits theaters on September 11. Better start brushing up on your history so you can know what the hell’s happening, because Greengrass certainly ain’t going to tell you visually. Also, stock up on some Dramamine.
