Suede’s remarkable second act is showing no signs of slowing down. The iconic British band and Britpop kickstarters unleashed a searing new single this week called “Emotionally Unavailable,” and it fuels the expanded edition re-issue of last year’s Antidepressants album, arriving July 10 via BMG. Antidepressants: Expanded is armed with a second disc of five unreleased tracks and a third featuring demo cuts of the album’s 11 tracks, and leading the way is the confrontational “Emotionally Unavailable,” which furthers the notion that the band is entrenched in their post-punk era. It’s gritty and propulsive, with a defensive snarl fit for life in 2026, and should sound potent when Suede hit the road with kindred spirits Manic Street Peachers around the United Kingdom this fall (no joint stateside tour this time around). “It seems to me that contemporary life has a kind of powderkeg feel,” Brett Anderson says with the song’s launch. “A taut atmosphere, like there’s something explosive about to happen, a latent anger, a lurking darkness, a frustration that requires suppression. We are all striving for connection in a disconnected world.” When asphalt gives way to granite.
