Watch a tantalizing tease of ‘Dune: Part Three’ as you buy tickets

Normally, we try not to cover teasers less than a minute long– even on news days so sluggish you can practically see a snail trail — because they’re usually teasers for teasers, and that practice is lame. It’s the slow-burn version of the ten-second trailer clip played at the start of a full-length trailer on YouTube, designed to keep you on the video just long enough to count as a view. But most movies aren’t Dune: Part Three, and like most things Denis Villeneuve, the man has some cool imagery to show off in just a thirty-second tease meant to hype early-access ticket sales.

Two specific shots stand out. There’s that awesome shot near the end of the trailer with a samurai-styled warrior in front of a horizon-spanning army, and then there’s our first look at the Spacing Guild navigator Edric, inside a floating sarcophagus. It may not be the fish-man blob of the Lynch movie, but we have to believe this won’t be all we see of him. However, it does look dope.

Peep it:

Here’s a synopsis for Dune: Part Three:

“‘Dune: Part Three’ is set nearly two decades after Paul Atreides seized control of the Imperium. Now a ruthless Emperor, Paul must face the consequences of his reign as old allies return, terrifying new threats emerge, and betrayal lurks in every shadow. Haunted by visions of Imperial collapse and the reappearance of his long-lost love, Paul is drawn into a sweeping conspiracy, with Chani at the heart of its unfolding mystery. As rebellion brews and enemies close in, Paul must confront the true cost of power and the fate of those he loves the most.”

Now, here’s the fun part: tickets for Dune: Part Three are now on sale. It may not be, say, Christopher Nolan selling Odyssey tickets a full year in advance, but it is pretty goddamn early, and apparently it’s been absolute chaos to buy tickets for any IMAX 70mm showing. We’re not that picky, so we were able to grab some seats for one of the Insider shows. Those are basically “early access” screenings, now that the studios have realized they can charge people to go to what used to be a radio-promo word-of-mouth screening and get their email addresses in the process.

Those “Dune Insider” screenings will happen on December 15, and the rest of y’all can see it on December 18. Good luck.
