If you like smart, interesting horror films, you’re probably already excited for Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, which just premiered at Cannes and, per usual, got a lengthy standing ovation from those who were lucky enough to see it. It’s getting a late-summer theatrical release from MUBI, but if you happen to live in New York, Montreal, San Francisco, Portland, or the great state of Massachusetts, you’ll get some pretty cool opportunities to see it early. The distributor announced on Thursday that Schoenbrun and star Hannah Einbender will be going on a five-city jaunt that they’re dubbing the “Camp is in Session Tour,” and, if you don’t mind missing out on a Q&A at one of the dates, you’ll have two chances to see it in The Bay State.
The first Massachusetts stop will be on June 11 at the Provincetown Film Festival, which is where you can show up and cry at the microphone to the poor folks on stage about how much either Hacks or I Saw the TV Glow meant to you, but the second date has its own appeals. Why? Well, it’s the one screening that’s actually going to take place at a campground — namely, at Rocky Woods in Medfield on July 18, in partnership with the Coolidge Corner Theatre. The Coolidge’s summertime screenings at that site are always a delight (even if the drives back to civilization are a little scarier than they need to be), and that’s sure to be one hell of a fun evening.

If you can’t make either of those dates, don’t panic: you’ll get your fill of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma when it hits theaters on August 7.
