Boy, how time flies — it feels like it was almost yesterday that three Spider-Men got together and destroyed box office records (despite the Omnicron variant!), but it was actually four years ago. Yeah, can you believe it? Anyway, the bell has been rung and the feeding trough filled, and it’s time for you to choke down a new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which sees Tom Holland return to the role of Peter Parker in his most angst-filled outing yet.
See, it’s kind of a problem when everybody you know and love forgets who you are, and you decide to devote yourself to superheroics to try and feel the massive hole within yourself. Therapy is expensive; fighting the Sinister Six, Punisher, and a Savage Hulk is much harder. Jon Watts departed the franchise a few years ago, and now occupying the director’s chair is Daniel Deston Cretton, who must be quite relieved that Wonder Man came out and got pretty solid reviews (we hear it’s actually good!). So, yeah, lots to be excited for here. Whoo-hoo.
Peep it:
Here’s a synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
“After the record-breaking global success of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of ‘No Way Home,’ and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31.
