Before “Silver Bells” season comes “Tubular Bells” season. And before that, in the crisp final days of August, comes “Exorcist” season, courtesy of Ali McGuirk. The blues maven — now based in Montpelier, Vermont — released a new tune called “Exorcist” earlier this month (August 12), effectively funneling a current of venom into the cathartic third single from her September album, Watertop. “In writing this song, I wrote myself an actual exorcism,” McGuirk says. “Righteous anger. Trauma. Betrayal. Feminine rage. Thought systems that oppress us. Catholic aesthetics, which I will likely always find resonant and complex.” Tune in below.
