Mic’d Up: Bobcat Goldthwait brings the punk vibes to Cambridge

There are very few certainties in life. Death and taxes are a bummer, but we can all pretty much agree that the third, under appreciated certainty that Bobcat Goldthwait will always bring the best and most timely vibes to the party is a total win every time.

Such will be the case again this weekend, as the comedy legend returns to the underground confines of The Comedy Studio in Harvard Square starting on Friday (October 9) for a pair of shows on back-to-back nights. While we haven’t heard much from him in terms of recorded material or any sort of on-screen appearances since his last visit to Cambridge in the fall of 2025, as well as his 2023 album Soldier For Christ, Goldthwait has continued to make tracks in the club circuit as he brings his mash-up of high-energy, chaotic punk attitude and easygoing chill vibes to the masses with a palpable creative freedom like we’ve never seen from him before — and that’s saying something when it comes to what Goldthwait has done with his comedy over the last few decades.

Whether you’ve seen him a dozen times, or you’re checking him out for the very first time this weekend, Goldthwait’s unpredictability is not something to be slept on — even after more than 40 years in the game.
